Hi everyone !

Interesting to read the Thomas report. Not really sure what it all means viz a viz Airtours etc but we stayed at the Yiannis in September last year and we noted the Hermes on the hill and people we spoke to said it had been refurbished. We are going for a week in June and have just booked the Hermes Hotel on the Thomas Cook website although it appears to actually be an Airtours Hotel and we are flying out with Thomson. We are choosing the Hermes as the Yiannis is not available and we had favourable reports from people we had met last year. I hope it proves to be a good choice?!!

As it goes, to date, the Hermes Hotel has currently not agreed a contract with Airtours for the sale of the hotel through the summer of 2009. As it is exclusive to Airtours, it will only be these that feature the Hermes for 2009, if they come to an arrangement.

All other tour operators have got 2009 fully on sale and have done so since April 2008, so no other operator will feature this hotel until 2010.

If you are that desperate to get there why dont you go on there website, it has 2 email addressees. That would solve that problem.

Finally though for 2 adults you will be lucky to get flights for 400 pounds for two weeks. The euro is struggling aswell and last time i checked Diana offers a room at 40 euros per night bed and breakfast (i dont know if she offers this to everyone, but i have been going there for years now so this maybe something she just offers me)-in short- a very expensive trip.

My advice would be to book a different hotel and then go to see them daily from there. You would save a fortune.

Good luck with your travels, and who knows, i may see you there on one of my 3 planned trips there for next year!

All the best

We stayed at the Hermes for a fortnight in September. There was a slight incline to the hotel but it only took ten minutes from the beach. Hotel  and apartments were well worth the money we paid. The friendliness of the owners, Diane & Sebastian, were worth alot more. I would go back again without any doubts what so ever.

Have just returned from a 2 week stay at the Hermes and would recommend it to anyone!!

The hotel and pool and spotlessly clean and the towels were changed every day, the rooms themselves were fairly basic and you had to pay extra for air con (about 48 euros a week, £5 a day) which i thought was a bit steep!

The staff are fantastic and the owners Diane and Sebastian are really lovely and can not do enough to help you out.

The walk to and from the beach to the hotel is uphill but nothing more than an incline and after a nice meal in the local travernas it was nice to work off some of the calories!!

The breakfast was a bit poor with either toast and jam or cornflakes on offer!

I dont understand people than moan about the rooms and stuff, you would think they except their own home when they go away, the rooms were basic but spotlessly clean and were only a place to rest your head!!
The pool was brilliant and there were plenty of sunbeds!!
Overall, a great holiday, really relaxing!!! Thanks to all the staff!!

Smile We stayed for two weeks in June 2007. We had a great holiday and would recommend the Hotel however --- we went with Airtours on B&B basis but the included breakfast was a bit of a joke. The breakfast on offer consisted of two slices of toast with butter and jam OR cornflakes. Tea / coffee and orange juice were also included.

  Location : Good
  Quietness : Good
  Cleanliness : Excellent

We stayed at the hotel In October and it was great. We had our two small children and our neice and the staff at the Hermes Hotel were really helpful, welcoming and friendly. Diana, Sebastian and their daughter Katalina(?) chatted away to the kids, made them fancy drinks, cuddled them and really made us at ease being in a hotel with the kids.

The hotel is up a hill but it is not too bad, our 4 year old managed it several times a day. The near by beach was nice and we could get the local bus (although it runs at its own time, if it turns up!!!) to Paradise beach which was wonderful.

The traditional village is up on top of the hill and although a steep walk up it is well worth it. There were lots of nice crafty shops, taverns etc plus little parks for the kids. The main street, at the bottom of the hill, is touristy but nice at the same time. We managed to find decent restaurants where we could get decent greek food. There were british bars but there was also enough alternatives so they could be avoided.

The hotel has a decent pool, which also has childrens' pool built in. There is a snack bar by the pool, a well stocked bar in the hotel and a restaraunt. We particulary enjoyed their selection of breakfasts and did dinner their a couple of times.

Our room was cleaned daily and we got a fresh supply of towels each day. The room was basic but we had a fridge, 2 ring cooker, kettle and equipment in our room so we got by. The only noisy night we had was the night we arrived when other guests were arriving.

We would definitely recommend the hotel and would go back

  Location : Excellent
  Quietness : Average
  Cleanliness : Excellent

We stayed at the Hermes end June beginning July 06 and thought it was a fantastic location, yes there was a bit of a walk up the hill but hey we were on holiday.

As for the last people needing shops, who needs shops.

There were adequate places for everyday needs and the Tavernas were just brill, every single one.

Bets for us was Captain John, great breakfast and a fab Lemon Sole at night.

Yes all in all a very peaceful and relaxing location not for the youngsters who should head for Kardamena.

Thanks Hermes for a brill 2 weeks hope to come back soon

  Location : Poor
  Quietness : Poor
  Cleanliness : Excellent

We came back on thursday from two weeks staying at the Hermes Hotel in Kefalos - what poor location! Every day and every night we had to walk up that steep hill in hot weather - It was horrible! When we first arrived there we were supposed to be put in one of the self catering studios at the bottom - it was like a cell! we had one door woth bars over the windows, no natural light and mybed was a put-me-up!! After complaining we were actually put into one of the rooms upstairs which was much nicer with far better views.

Although i have complained about this palce i can not fault the cleanliness. the cleaner came in every day and our studio wasspotless! Diane and Sebastian are also very friendly and make ou fell at home.
The pool is huge with plenty of sunbeds so no need to rush down in morning. The resort of Kefalos is not brilliant as there are no shopsexceptsupermarkets. The harbour has plenty of tavernas and the atmospehre is lovely. For all youmajor shoppers book a day or a night to kos town with Askilipios Tours - very friendly and excellent service.

In all we did have a very good holiday at kefalos and enjoyed it emenslely. However the resort needs more shops to make us go back.
